Home information packs
On the 1st of August 2007, hips, or home information packs where needed to sell any UK house that had four or more bedrooms. This was quickly followed up by all three bedroomed houses on the 10th September. The final phase of making sure all house sales in the UK is the 14th December 2007, when any residential property sale will have to have a hips assessment undertaken before going to market. This will drastically slow down the sale process. However, there are exemptions, a private house sale does not need to apply nor have a HIPs report available at point of viewing or sale.
